Noise, pt. 3 is a design for a small house. The project uses the formal logic behind the digital imaging noise filter as a means to construct space. A noise filter introduces randomness to a digital environment, whether in its surfaces, qualities of light, or arrangement of its objects. The design examines the ways in which the filter convolves, or entangles, an image’s foreground and background to create transitions between the inside and outside spaces of a house. The logic of this visual technique serves as a non-compositional model for spatial complexity.
